Project Wildbird

                                                                 FREE Query Tool

This is the only place you can access more than 1 million lines of data collected by hundreds of people throughout the US and Canada during 4 seasons of the year. That’s a lot of information!

With this free query tool, you can access the data information from several angles including:
  • the bird seed preference of a wild bird species and
  • the bird feeder preference of a species

After you complete the form below and click the Submit button, you will go right to the query tool page. Remember, this is a FREE query tool. This information will appear above the query tool, so there's no need to copy this information down.

Once you are in the query tool, you will have the option to select:
  • Bird Species
  • Seed Type
  • Feeder Type
You must select one criteria in order for the query tool to give you information.
  • If you select only a seed type (like black oil sunflower), a listing of every species in our database that was observed eating the seed you select will be displayed.
  • If you select a bird species only (like finch), the number of times that bird species ate different seeds will be shown. There are 157 bird species listed in this free query tool.
  • If you select a bird feeder styly (like platform feeder), the total number of birds reported using platform feeders as well as a list of birds by species will be displayed.
If you select a bird species (like finch) and a seed type (like black oil sunflower) and a feeder style (like tube feeder), you will receive the total number of birds of that species that ate that bird seed from that bird feeder style.
